How do people roam around in half T-shirts even in the cold, why don’t they feel cold?

Why Some People Don’t Feel Cold: Cold is wreaking havoc in North India at this time. People are unable to dare to step out of the house without jackets and thick sweaters. However, even in this cold, you will see some people who are roaming around in less clothes. For example, nowadays the pictures of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi walking around barefoot in the cold of December in Delhi only in half T-shirt have gone viral. In such a situation, the question arises whether they do not feel cold at all or do they have the ability to tolerate it.

You must have seen some people, who roam around in summer clothes even in the bitter cold. In such a situation, this question must have also come in your mind that why they do not feel cold? Today we will answer this question of yours. Scientists have done research on this strange question for a long time, only then it has come to know that why there are some people among us who do not feel cold even in the winter season.

It’s science, not superpowers
Although there is a special set of nerve cell receptors in the nervous system of our body, which instructs its body to work only on the basis of changes in the environment, but some genetic mutations can affect the work of these receptors. In the year 2021, a research revealed that genetic mutations affecting the receptors can produce a degree of tolerance to hot and cold. Research published in the American Journal of Human Genetics suggests that this is due to the absence of a protein called A-actinin-3 in human fast-twitch skeletal muscle fibers.

Very few people have such quality
ACTN-3 protein is also known as speed gene. It encodes the protein alpha-actinin-3, which plays a key role in promoting powerful muscle contractions. It is found only in fast twitch muscle fibers. Deficiency of this protein does not cause muscle disease. Researchers at the Karolinska Institute’s Department of Physiology and Pharmacology believe that ACTN-3 deficiency in some people alters their skeletal muscle thermogenesis and these people maintain their body temperature during the cold. Although this happens only in 150 crore people out of 800 crore population of the world.
